Flash flood warning in effect for San Antonio area, Bexar County
May 13, 2014

SAN ANTONIO -

A flash flood warning remains in effect for parts of Bexar County.

The National Weather Service in Austin-San Antonio has issued a flash flood warning for northwestern Atascosa County, southwestern Bexar County, extreme West Central Wilson County until 4 a.m.

At 1 a.m., National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated very heavy rains producing flash flooding from thunderstorms over the Leming to Somerset areas.

Doppler radar indicated 2 to 5 inches of rain. An additional 1 to 3 inches of rain is possible. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, country roads as well as farmland along the banks of creeks and streams.

Earlier in the morning, Doppler radar estimated 2 to 4 inches from San Antonio International Airport to across the downtown area and then to La Coste, Somerset and Elmendorf.

If flash flooding is observed act quickly. Move up to higher ground to escape flood waters. Do not stay in areas subject to flooding when water begins rising.
